New allegations have emerged regarding the alleged plan of the Omani co-pilot who attacked the captain on flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. According to information reported by Israeli journalist Amit Segal, the co-pilot allegedly intended to take control of the aircraft and crash it into the terminal at Ben Gurion Airport. However, this detail has not yet been officially confirmed by authorities.
According to the claim, the co-pilot waited until the aircraft approached Israel and reached Jordanian airspace. He allegedly planned to make the flight appear to be conducting a normal landing approach in order to delay an Israeli response before directing the aircraft toward the terminal building at the final stage. Preliminary assessments in Israel reportedly indicate that the attack may have been a lone act with no identified links to any organisation. The investigation remains ongoing, with all possibilities being examined.
The UAE Public Prosecution previously described the incident as an attempted terrorist attack, stating that the co-pilot attacked the captain with an emergency axe from the cockpit and attempted to seize control of the aircraft. Control was regained following intervention by passengers and crew, after which the aircraft made an emergency landing at an airport in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
